My brother hurt his back a few months ago, and hasn’t been able to work since (or walk, for that matter). We’ve been trying to find him a work-at-home job, but I can’t figure out which ones are legitimate, and which ones are scams. Any tips on how I can find one for him? Is there any rule of thumb for telling which ones are scams?
I’m not looking for a job that he’d making a billion dollars at.. just something to help pay the rent.

Hundred questions a day here like that. 99.9% seem to be selling software or getting your money to sign up for useless scams. 0.05 % are people who’s real jobs let them work from home from time to time; 0.05% are undecided.
If there were such jobs wouldn’t everyone be doing them?
I have been trying for the past year now. No luck so far. Pretty much everything I tried were scams. The internet business, the envelopes, the pretty much everything. They promise you the world and ask for money and when they get the money and there is no income coming in and you try to talk to them… All of a sudden they disappear into thin air. The only one that I have been looking at pretty much for a long time, is the cosmetics business. However I highly doubt that your brother might be interested. Well they do have the mens stuff to deal with too. It’s Arbonne. So far they are the most legit.
Try this site.
I don’t know how he feels about candles or about selling but it is a home based business and legit. Go to
candlesandsome.scent-team.com
There are a list of credentials at the bottom of the web page. There is also a wonderful 9min presentation about the company.
Well if you find one let me know. Your answer is No not really. Unless you can take your job home with you from your currant job situation then you are lucky. One of the great chances of working at home after you have established yourself on the job site is Medical Billing. This requires skill and certification i.e. degree and level status. Even that position does not guarantee or qualify a home office position. It’s the ol’ luck of the draw. All schemers are out there it is rare if you find one that is not. If there was most of us would be searching for the same convenience.
Good Luck and God Bless on the recovery to health.
There are so, so many “work at home” scams that it is sick. You really want to watch out for ads that are vague, use a lot of buzz words like “earn $xxx.xx a day”, “earn money with your computer”, “make money reading ads”…they are mostly scams. Stay away from them. They are a waste of your time.
What kind of skills does he have? There are many freelance websites where he can bid on jobs (depending on what his skills are) and work as an independent contractor.
I think first of all he needs to determine what he likes to do, and what he really wants to do. What a person enjoys often turns into a business venture (an example is someone who likes website design - turns this hobby into a business). If the idea of starting a business is less desirable than a “work at home” job, don’t be turned off. Many businesses are an individual’s “work at home job” , such as the website designer in the above example.
In my experience, there really is no quick way to get cash rolling in without a lot of hard work and desire.
Try this site out. it has a listing of at home jobs. i personally have gotten paid for the top two jobs. they are great for part time work that can earn a good side income. its all completely free
Well, what wizip left out was that 17% of American’s run home based businesses. These are the ones that most likely will ask you to invest a fee. No, a lot of them are not scams. Some are, but people like to automatically assume that they are scams if money is asked of up front. I have been running a home business for a little over a year. I can tell you, it is not a scam.
You can look up the companies credentials. Check the bbb.org. Do not rely on ripoff.com because that is just a website full of complaints, so you will see only negative of everything. See if they are publically traded on the NYSE. Those are just afew tips!
