I do ok on craigslist selling junk furniture locally, just made $50 an hour ago selling a dinning set I found on the side of the road.
That’s going to depend on your job skills. There are tons of jobs you can do from home.
-Day care provider
-Web site developer and other computer work (see rentacoder.com for ideas)
-Transcriptionist
-Various artists stuff, home crafts, woodworking, etc
-Auto / machinery repair
-Tailoring / alterations

If you are asking about the spam that you get about easy, get-rich-quick schemes, no. Those are all scams.
Now, if you are asking about legitimate businesses then, yes, there are many that started at home and were successful. Have you ever heard of Dell Computers? How about Hewlett-Packard? Both companies were started at home, and took off. Many people run successful businesses from their homes as mechanics, cabinet makers and other skilled trades, as consultants and advisers, or by offering goods and services. Mountain High Limited was (or maybe still is) a successful home business that offered rock climbing and other outdoor gear through their “Plain Jane Catalog”.
Every one of these examples are successful home businesses. Every one of them required a lot of effort and work by their owners. Every one of them were businesses where the owners worked for themselves. They weren’t the “we pay you to stuff envelopes” or “assemble products for us at home” type businesses. Those are all scams.
Yes there are …. Ignite, it’s a company that sells electric service. It has demonstrated great profit for all of it’s sales Representatives. As you probably already know most of them only benefit the top of the echelon. There are some out there, you just have to find them . Prepaid Legal can… be but you really have to get out there and keep the interest. Quix Start use to be one but, with this economy…few people give a damn about the fact that SA-8 in it’s greatest form can wash 40 loads of clothes for 18 - 48 dollars and the dollar store has a soap that does the same thing for a dollar and that really matters when your money is tight. So what you want to do is check the different enterprises out there, view the economy…. and remember that you aren’t trying to sell to you… but to Joe and Jane Blow everyday Americans and they are watching their dimes…. what they need is a benefit that strongly demonstrates it’s also saving them money and then you can sign them up…. The best thing to profit on is their satisfaction. They will sell your product for you. Don’t use those magazine sales either. I’ve seen most of that junk at the dollar store… again for a dollar.~ You won’t profit or you won’t profit much!
Many do, but it’s tough to find legitimate places to turn to for help. I have made a living on e-bay when I was out of work. It’s a tough market due to all the competition and the new global sellers from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
I know people who make a living being recruiters. You can find these jobs on the job sites. It’s 100% commission so you’d better know how to sell yourself over the phone. (I did this job also and made good money. Competition is tough.)
I know people who buy and sell equipment from home without ever seeing it. They make good money on brokered sales of tractors, dozers and heavy equipment.
As with anything, you will need knowledge of your product to succeed.
