Eight, if you have a passport.
I don’t think that age requirements for work at home are any different than the age requirements for working anywhere. As a 17 year old, I would think you are eligible for part-time work only until you turn 18. However, you’re probably still living with your folks, so the better question is whether they’ll let you have the job. They would likely make you quit if the phone is ringing at all hours of the day, even if it’s only in your room.
For the “answering phones” thing its getting real hard to compete with countries where your snack money is a months paycheck to them.
Generally for a “real job” (official paycheck, taxes, benefits, etc) the requirement is that you have to be able to sign a contract. Even if they dont make you sign a contract, thats usually in the requirements. They have to be able to hold you accountable the same way that you can hold them accountable for their side of the agreement. In many places, 17 is fine. In others, you might have to have your parents sign.
Of course you can usually find something small just starting out that might pay you “under the table” which means they dont claim you as a worker. You lose many rights that way.
Either way, to find such a job I owuld pick something that you know about and search for that plus online customer service. If you know bicycles, then try and find a bike site that hires online customer service.
