Have you thought about trading on Ebay etc. I can send you some information on where to source product from ie drop shippers and wholesalers.
Develop your own product or service ? Create a list of what you are passionate about, what you have a lot of knowledge about, something people may come to you for advise on. Then locate a niche market “A group of people who are searching the internet for a solution to a problem and NOT finding many relevant results” There are plenty of ways to do research on this.
Become an affiliate and earn commission by recommending someone else’s product. Again, I can send you some links where you can find programs like this.
My site contains courses that are endorsed by the Internet Marketing Centre. If you are serious about starting an online business I suggest you take a look. Its a violation of Yahoo policy to post links here. Just reply and I’ll send it onto you.
There really isn’t much of anything that is really legit as far as home based businesses. Well over 90 percent plus are scams. You send them money, and they send you useless info on how they think you could make money. They are the only one making money by selling worthless info, and defrauding gullible and desperate people.
First you have to differentiate between work at home and work from home. Many businesses you can work from home, whether it is a Multi-Level Marketing company or having a cleaning service. You have your home office, but you end up going out to meet with people or do the work. I wholesale real estate to other investors. I can do some of my work at home, but I have to get out and look at houses and I have to go to networking events and seminars to gain more knowledge and meet other investors.
Some businesses you can work from home. For example, I do a lot of writing. People can freelance from home, picking up jobs via telephone or over the internet (Craigs List, elance.com, etc.) . Some people work as virtual assistants, making phone calls from home, writing reports, etc.
The distinction that needs to be made (and you are ahead of the curve for most people who want to work at home) is that almost always, working from home involves having your own business rather than having a job. The people I talk to who want to work at home are looking for a J.O.B., not a business.
Finding the right business for you is the trick. Almost all business, whether it is home-based or internet or brick and mortar involves sales. Most people dont like to sell, but it is a necessary evil with your own business.
Look for something that fits your area of interest and then look to see if it will actually make substantial money. I have a couple of internet businesses that take no time, they are pretty much automated (one is a book that is an auto-download, for example). They dont make huge amounts of money, but then again, I did the work once and then let it run. Finding houses to wholesale is something I really enjoy doing so the work involved isnt difficult and when the deals close, I make large chunks of money. It is just surviving in between the chunks of money coming in.
A couple of things to look for are the potential for residual income (you sell something once and get paid on it again and again) and, if you are looking at a company to join, find out how long they have been in business and what other competition is out there. There is nothing worse than putting $300 into a company to sell some fabulous berry juice only to find out that another company has basically the same product for less and a lower entry fee.
So yes, there are legitimate home businesses out there. You just need to have a series of questions that will help you eliminate the ones that arent for you.
Best of luck,
Barbara

Yes there are good work at home businesses. But, unfortunately, there are many scams masquerading as home businesses.
These are the things you need to look for in a good home business, to build a solid income:
DO NOT BELIEVE IT when they say that you can just come in and do nothing, the busines will run itself and you can make a ton of money. It’s a scam.
If you have a company that is more than 5 years old, deals with a product in great demand, has great training and support, has great growth potential and has all the necessary tools to build the business, then that is the best business in the whole world.
If in addition, it has a low start up cost, that’s a blessing!
But the most important ingredient is you.
Here is one that meets all those criteria and more. In fact it is celebrating its 15 year anniversary this month!
